Bagan

Bagan (formerly known as Pagan) is an ancient city situated in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar (Burma). The monuments (pagodas and temples) in Bagan seem to overwhelm the landscape. There are more than  2,000 monuments in Bagan which cover an area of 16 square miles and are located on the eastern bank of the Irrawaddy in central Myanmar. All the attractions in Bagan are in different sizes and shapes. They are also in different stages of preservation.

Bagan is one of the best places to visit on Burma trips, it is also one of the best archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. It could be accessible by all means of transport. Located on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwady, Bagan’s archaeological site covers only 42 square kilometers. There is an incredible number of temples, pagodas, and shrines from the 11th to the 13th century that could be seen here.
