Located in Amarapura, 11 kilometers far from the south of Mandalay city, Mahagandayon Monastery is the most prominent monastic college that visitors from Myanmar tours can learn about the monks’ education. Here is the accommodation of thousands of monks to study Buddhism within and without Myanmar.

The monks must follow a daily ritual which helps them focus their minds on their education. In the morning, they have to wake up at 4.30 am and have breakfast promptly at 5 am. They clean up after their meals and prepare for their classes in the Pali language.
The most attractive activity for tourists visiting the monastery from a Mandalay day tour is following the line-up-monk at lunchtime. It takes place at 10.30 am and after that meal, the monk will not be allowed to have any dinner. Tourists can capture photos at that time and give offerings to the monks.
Mahagandayon gives tourists the tranquil time. The image of a silent line-up yellow-brown monks and the peaceful atmosphere here make an unforgettable memory in tourists’ minds.
