Shinbin Thalyaung Temple

Estimated 12″‘ century
Although built next to the 11th century Shwe Sandaw Pagoda, this 60 ft long reclining image is believed to be a later structure. The pose of the body is in the dying or Parrinibanna position. The eyes are closed; the head is lying on the right upturned palm. The body and feet are straight, with the soles of the feet lying rigidly together. There are painted murals of trees and flowers behind the image; Buddha Gautama passed away in a park.

Young monks with candles worship Shin Bin Thal Yaung reclining Budddha.
