Myo Daung Monastery

Myoe Daung Kyaung or Myo Daung Monastery means the Monastery at the corner of the city. It was the main monastery building in Bagan.

Myoe Daung Kyaung or Myo Daung Monastery can be translated to Monastery at the corner of the city. It was considered the chef east-west oriented monastery construction in Bagan. This structure measures approximately 130 ft. x 115 ft. The history of most of its significant elements dates back from the pre-colonial Kon-baung period. Some of the rooms apparently were built later.
