Along with Yadanar Man Aung, Lawka Man Aung, Zeenat Man Aung, and Sakkya Man, Mingalar Man Aung Pagoda is also one of the most venerable pagodas in Mrauk U. For a long time, the pagoda has turned itself into one of the most iconic symbols of people’s spiritual and cultural life. Also popularly known as “Man Ngar Par”, Mingalar Man Aung Pagoda is today not only a place for local people but also for foreign visitors who desire to steep in Myanmar’s culture in general and Mrauk U’s traditional values in particular.
Like other pagodas in Mrauk U, Mingalar Man Aung Pagoda is also closely attached to a reign of a King in Myanmar history. This pagoda, in the past, was ruled by the son of King King Sanda Thudhamma Raza and erected in A.D 1685. One of the most noticeable features lies in its unique construction which is mainly from stones instead of bricks like others. The pagoda is surrounded by walls, which creates a square shape. Moreover, there are stone Buddha statues which you can see at the interior of the pagoda.
If you have a chance to visit Mrauk U in your tours to Burma, make your way through the east side of the pagoda where you need to cross a forest path to reach a ruined place of princess’s palace, whereas the south side of the pagoda lies four main slabs.
