Catholicism in Myanmar

Catholicism was first introduced to Myanmar in early 17th century, now accounts for about 5.6% of the population of Myanmar. The majority of Christian believers are Keren, Chin, Kachin and Burmese Christian of Baptis line. Christian was very active from colonial times until the mid-1960s, they established schools, hospitals and social relief centers. After 1962, these facilities were nationalized by Myanmar government.
