Remove Restriction to Visit the Myeik Archipelago for Foreign Tourists

There are no restrictions for foreign tourists to visit Myeik archipelago Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region, said the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. Previously, international tourists are banned to visit some parts of Myeik archipelago, which causes a little access on these islands.

An officer of Hotels and Tourism for Myeik District, Moe Kyaw Aung says “the excursions to Myeik Region have organized for foreign tourists. We just inform the number of passengers and tour itineraries, and no need to report our schedules to the district department. According to this permission, foreigners are allowed to take a Myeik Archipelago tour.”

Myeik archipelago has played an important role in promoting the region’s tourism industry. If international tourists access Myeik, they will take a day trip to islands, contributing to increasing in tourist’s amount, he added.
In Myeik Township, many tour agencies are now running permission in order to expend their schedule. The local government expects to attract more international tourists to Myeik archipelago, develop Myeik’s tourism industry in the coming time.
